Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara has officially announced an recruitment drive for the position of Junior Residents. These roles are being offered on a purely Academic Arrangement Basis under S.O. 364 of 2020.
Engagement Details
- Tenure: The initial appointment is for six months.
- Extension: The contract may be extended up to a maximum of one year, contingent upon the candidate’s performance and conduct as reported by the Head of the Department.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be a maximum of 50 years old as of the application cut-off date.
- Nature of Work: The role is a full-time commitment; selected residents are strictly prohibited from engaging in private practice or any other part-time/full-time employment elsewhere.
Application Process
Interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications by April 6, 2026 (until 4:00 PM).
- Form Availability: Application forms can be downloaded from the official college website: www.gmchandwara.co.in.
- Application Fee: A Demand Draft of Rs. 500 from JK Bank is required. This should be pledged to the Chief Accounts Officer, Govt. Medical College Handwara, payable at Handwara.
- Submission Office: Completed forms must be submitted to the office of the Registrar Academics, GMC Handwara.
Required Documents
Applicants must attach self-attested Xerox copies of the following:
- MBBS Degree certificate (NMC recognized institution).
- Marks cards for all professional examinations and an attempt certificate.
- Internship completion certificate.
- Permanent Registration Certificate (State Medical Council/NMC).
- Date of Birth and Domicile certificates.
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- Any additional merit certificates, scholarships, or medals.
Selection and Terms
- Evaluation: The date for the interview or written test will be shared separately on the college website.
- Security Deposit: The first month’s salary will be held as a security deposit and released only upon the successful completion of the tenure.
- Verification: Salary release is subject to a satisfactory CID verification report.
- Agreement: Selected candidates must sign an agreement promising not to leave the department before their tenure ends. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit and the withholding of an experience certificate.
