Eid ul Fitr Likely to Fall on March 31: Suparco
ISLAMABAD: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) announced that Eid ul Fitr is likely to be observed on March 31, 2025.
According to Suparco, scientific parameters indicate a high likelihood of moon sighting on March 30 in Pakistan. As a result, Ramadan is expected to conclude in 29 days, leading to Eid celebrations on March 31.
The commission noted that in Saudi Arabia, the crescent moon’s visibility on March 29 would be nearly impossible due to its age at sunset in Makkah being only around five hours. However, the crescent is expected to be visible on March 30, leading Saudi Arabia and the Middle East to likely observe Eid on the same day as Pakistan.
Earlier, the federal government announced a three-day holiday for Eid ul Fitr from March 31 to April 2. The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will convene on March 30 to confirm the moon sighting.
Additionally, the Pakistan Meteorological Department also confirmed a good chance of sighting the Shawwal moon on March 30. Previously, Suparco had predicted that Ramadan would begin on March 2 and Eid ul Fitr would be on March 31.
Eid ul Fitr is a significant festival marking the conclusion of Ramadan, celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has announced four special trains to accommodate travelers before and after Eid.
